On December 8, 2024, hackers breached the Cardano Foundation's account on X (formerly Twitter). They posted content promoting a fake token called ADASOL and a fabricated SEC lawsuit, falsely claiming that the project was halting support for ADA.
The scammers published 13 detailed posts with instructions and links to legitimate Cardano resources. Trading volume for the fake token reached $500.000 before users caught on.
🗣 The Cardano Foundation confirmed the breach and is addressing the issue. The price of Cardano's token dropped by 6% in 24 hours.
